Rumsey Island is located in Joppa, Md.  

It is the mission of the R. I. R. A. to promote community pride & responsibility.  With the help of resident volunteers, we encourage participation in the association and sponsored neighborhood events. Our ultimate goal is to help Rumsey Island remain a safe, serene and congenial place to live.

Next R.I.R.A. Meeting - Thursday July 16, 2009

Join us on April 16th at the Joppatowne Library for the next R.I.R.A. Membership  Meeting, which begins at 6:30 PM.

Covenants Now Available

The Association will now provide residents with a copy of the Rumsey Island covenants for a small processing fee. You may obtain your copy by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope, along with a check made payable to R.I.R.A for $10.00, to:

  2009 Membership Dues

RIRA Membership is open to all residents, both homeowners and renters. Membership dues support community activities, landscape maintenance, fund our growing web site, and pays advertising costs for seasonal yard sales.  In addition a membership allows you to purchase a discounted ticket to the Annual Crab Feast and to participate in the Yard Waste Pickup twice a year.  RIRA annual membership dues of $25.00 are payable each calendar year and are in effect from January to December of that year.

Speed Humps

As you have noticed the signs have been installed for our new Speed Humps. These should be completed by the county in the near future.

Independence Day Parade

The Second Annual Edgewood & Joppa-Joppatowne Independence Day parade will be held on July 5, 2009 starting at 6PM in Edgewood. The starting location will be at the Boys & Girls Club on Cedar Dr & the parade route will be along Hanson Rd/755 toward Edgewood High School.

Crab Feast

Rumsey Island will hold its annual Crab Feast on 9/12/09 at the Church of the Resurrection on the corner of Anchor & Bridge Dr. Tickets are $20 per person for members & $25 per person for non members. Call Rose Marie Vaccaro at 410-679-8801 for tickets ASAP. The hall holds only 70 people, so get your tickets early. Beer will be provided. Don’t forget to bring a dessert for the Bake table & your own soft drinks. Volunteers are needed for setup and cleanup.
